CYPRUS
Cyprus is worthily one of the most popular tourist destinations that offers:
*Sunny weather all year round,
*One of the oldest civilizations with 10,000 years valuable history,
*Amazing natural beauty with rare flora and fauna,
*Stunning coastline with golden sandy beaches and clear blue waters.
Cyprus has a long and complex history reflecting its location at a maritime crossroads between Europe, Asia and Africa. It was home to one of the oldest civilizations in the Mediterranean with evidence of agriculture and pottery manufacturing dating back thousands of years. Over the centuries it has been invaded and settled by Greeks, Turks, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans and the British, amongst others.
With such a historic and legendary background it is hardly surprising that Cyprus has developed a character which is quite unique.
LARNACA
Larnaca is Cyprus’ longest continually inhabited region of the island, with a history that dates back 10,000 years, and the most centrally positioned, offering easy access to other regions of the island.
Larnaca houses the main International airport of Cyprus. Probably the most appealing site of Larnaca to tourists is Phinikoudes (Palm Tree promenade) beach in the city centre. A great place to walk along the promenade, relax on the beach or have a bite to eat at one of the many surrounding cafes or restaurants.
Surrounding the promenade are the Marina and the Old Medieval Fort. A variety of exciting Boat trips are available from the Marina, such as a sunset or a day cruise around Larnaca Bay and onwards to the Ayia Napa resort.
At the other end of the promenade, the old Fort serves as a venue for various cultural events, a must for those interested in a taste of history. There are also many other exciting things to see in and around Larnaca, including museums, monasteries, and the 18th century aqueduct.
